Torino market, granata challenge three Italians for Danish jewel

Torino’s sporting director Gianluca Petrachi continues to work on the market. President Urbano Cairo has reportedly indicated the need to intervene on the squad, with the aim of improving a little bit all departments after yet another season lived in the belly of the standings.
Among the names coming back into consideration is that of Maurits Kjaergaard, a Danish midfielder of Red Bull Salzburg, already approached in the past by Italian clubs such as Bologna, Fiorentina and Genoa. Born in 2003, he is a player with good game vision and decent goal-scoring ability. His purchase is estimated at around 8 million euros.
Not only midfield: the offensive department could experience a real revolution in the summer. Giovanni Simeone is still in River Plate’s sights, while Duvan Zapata, struggling with a long series of injuries, could be put on the market by the Granata club. Che Adams also gives no guarantees of permanence: the Scot’s contract expires in 2027 and so far he has not shown great willingness to renew, prompting Torino to consider his transfer to avoid losing him for zero parameters.
To replace the possible departures in attack, Petrachi reportedly has Borja Mayoral in his sights. The Spaniard, back from a complicated season at Getafe partly due to a knee injury, has no intention of renewing his contract expiring in 2027 and would be willing to make a change. The Iberian club, in order not to lose him at zero, could settle for a figure lower than his real market value.
To lead the team next season should still be Roberto D’Aversa, who in recent weeks has won a good haul of points, convincing both the fans and the management. Cairo himself, interviewed by Sky, said he was satisfied with the coach’s work, stressing that D’Aversa was “good at immediately getting into the players’ heads.” A confirmation that, in the president’s words, now seems closer and closer.
