Luciano Spalletti reveals Juventus’ secret and speaks out about the Scudetto

Juventus managed to put the Champions race on the tracks it had hoped for, thanks to a home win over Bologna that is simultaneously worth +5 in the standings over the pair of fifths composed of Como and Roma, but also an assault on second place that is once again possible. Milan and Napoli, in fact, are now only 3 points away. These are all aspects that Luciano Spalletti emphasized after the 2-0 win over the Emilian Rossoblù, praising in particular the cohesion of his players. Scudetto front, on the other hand, caution still dominates. Even in perspective.
“Let’s remain calm. Every now and then let’s have a nice chamomile tea before going to bed,” Spalletti smiled at the microphones of ‘DAZN,’ tickled that his Juventus team could definitely aim for the Scudetto next season.
“It’s better to stay calm, also because talking about these goals only increases the pressure on the players. And this kind of pressure then is also transmitted to those who play in the national team and so on. These are all aspects that we also determine with the speeches we make.”
Spalletti instead enjoys the results and especially the unity that increasingly distinguishes his Juventus team. “Seeing the boys all rejoice together is the most important thing,” the Juventus coach stressed.
One of them scores a goal, and when it happens he calls his teammates to share his happiness with them. As a vision it is really beautiful. We are also improving because our team offers good soccer, but above all because it is composed of boys who love each other. These aspects are fundamental for a coach, we are really on the right track.”
On the pitch, the game had gone downhill as early as 2′ thanks to Jonathan David’s diving header on Kalulu’s cross, before Marcus Thuram signed the double at 57′ by framing on McKennie’s cross. Bologna tried to reopen the scoring with Orsolini and a post hit by Rowe, but never seriously bothered Di Gregorio. It was a domination that was not matched by the final score, with Ravaglia starring in at least one miracle and a torpedo from the former Holm crashing over the crossbar.
Spalletti’s smile also widened when looking at the results of direct competitors. Como had already fallen on Friday in Reggio Emilia 2-1 against Sassuolo, the third knockout in the last three games for Fabregas’ side, while Roma drew 1-1 at home against Atalanta on Saturday, with Hermoso replying to Krstovic’s goal. Two missteps that handed the Bianconeri the certainty of fourth place even before the opening whistle, turning the night at the Allianz Stadium into an opportunity to make further haul. The only jarring note in the framework of the competitors bears the signature of AC Milan: the Rossoneri beat Verona 1-0 at the Bentegodi thanks to a goal by Rabiot, hooking Napoli in second place on 66 points and preserving their three-point lead over Juventus.
The team’s performance appears even more significant in light of the context in which it fits. Just ten days ago, Spalletti had made his contract renewal with Juventus official until 2028, announcing it directly to the players before a morning training session. “I wanted to realize what Juventus was like from the inside,” the coach had explained. “It was easy to imagine the greatness of the club, more difficult was to find a beautiful group of united guys like you. Every time I see you guys I think of Juve.” Words that today find further confirmation in the results and, above all, in the increasingly recognizable identity of a team that seems to have made its own the vision of its coach.
In the meantime, with Champions qualification approaching, the Bianconeri management is already working on the summer market in perspective. Among the profiles being followed most closely is Kim Min-jae, a mainstay of champion Napoli with Spalletti in 2023 and now at Bayern Munich: the South Korean center-back is the big target in case of Bremer’s transfer, who is increasingly in the sights of Premier League clubs. In the background, eyes are also on Nicolò Zaniolo, whom Udinese will buy back from Galatasaray in the summer: Spalletti highly esteems the former Roma man, who starred in a 5-goal, 6-assist season with the Friulani, although competition from Napoli and AC Milan is expected to be fierce.
