Edoardo Motta is a young Italian goalkeeper born in Biella on January 13, 2005, who has long been considered one of the emerging talents of Italian soccer in his role.

Motta grew up in the Juventus youth academy, where he arrived at age 11 and stayed until age 16. He then completed his path in the nurseries of Alessandria, Monza, and Reggiana, where he made his professional debut in 2024, first in the Coppa Italia and then in Serie B, at the age of 19.

The goalkeeper from Piedmont remained in Reggio Emilia until last January, when Lazio bought him as Ivan Provedel’s deputy for just over 1 million euros. After the Capitolini’s starting goalkeeper was injured, Motta got his chance and made his Serie A debut on March 9 in the 2-1 win over Sassuolo.

In April, he was the big star in Lazio’s victory over Atalanta in the Coppa Italia semifinal, when he parried four consecutive penalties against the Bergamo men from the penalty spot. The young goalkeeper was interviewed after the game by Mediaset: “Are there secrets about the gloves? Yes, but better to keep them hidden. Now Inter in the final always on penalties? We hope to finish it sooner, but we will be ready for those as well. Advice? My teammates give me a lot of it. A dedication? To everyone, to anyone who knows me.”

Motta made his debut with Italy Under-17 in 2021, while he made his Under-21 debut last September when Baldini called him up for the match against North Macedonia.
