Jannik Sinner doesn’t stop any longer: the South Tyrolean came through the quarterfinals of the Internazionali d’Italia by settling Andrej Rublev with the score of 6-2, 6-4 accrued in just over an hour and a half. It was a one-sided match in which the Russian managed to trouble the Azzurro only during a chunk of the second set.

With this success Sinner also set a new record: no one before him had ever strung 32 consecutive victories in Masters 1000 tournaments. An impressive streak that could be further lengthened in the event of a final triumph in Rome.

The match immediately turned in favor of the Italian, who was able to quickly take control of the first set thanks to a very aggressive start. After going ahead 3-1, Sinner repelled the Russian’s comeback attempts and closed the partial 6-2 in just 38 minutes, leaving very little space for his opponent.

More balanced the second fraction, with Rublev trying to change pace and increase the intensity of his tennis. Again, however, Sinner got off to a strong start, climbing as high as 4-1. A brief lapse allowed the Russian to get close again but the Azzurro reacted with lucidity in the decisive moments, avoiding to reopen the match.

In the final game on serve, the number one ranking player closed without hesitation also dragged by two consecutive aces that definitively extinguished Rublev’s hopes. After 1 hour and 31 minutes, Sinner was able to celebrate another convincing victory in front of the Foro Italico audience.

In the semifinals he will join Luciano Darderi confirming the excellent moment of Italian tennis. For the second year in a row, in fact, two Italians have landed in the top four at the Internazionali di Roma, fueling the dream of an all-Tricolor final.
