Inter market, Yann Sommer at 38 surprises everyone by unveiling his future

In December Yann Sommer will turn 38, but the Inter goalkeeper is not thinking about retirement yet. In an interview granted to RSI Sport, he explained that he still feels in great shape: “The body reacts very well. I think I can stay in soccer for two or three more years. For the future I already have some ideas, but I don’t see myself as a coach. I will certainly be a daddy.”
During the course of the season, the Nerazzurri number one has often ended up in the crosshairs of criticism from fans and insiders. A theme that, Sommer says, has always accompanied him, especially because of his height (183 cm). “It all started in Germany, after a friendly match between Gladbach and Bilbao in which I conceded three goals from corner kicks. A newspaper called me a ‘bonsai goalkeeper.’ It hurt me a lot. However, despite the doubts related to stature, I don’t think I ever took a goal because I was not tall enough.”
When asked about the most difficult save of his career, Sommer did not hesitate: “The second one on Yamal in Inter-Barcelona. It was much closer and the intervention was very complicated. It was a splendid match to live and to watch, full of emotions and goals, especially Acerbi’s.”
Finally, space also for his role models between the posts: “Casillas and Buffon, with Gigi I consider one of the best ever. I also liked Julio Cesar, Van der Sar and Barthez very much.”
