Former Milan coach Fabio Capello in an interview with Corriere della Sera spoke about the revolution that Gerry Cardinale is putting in place after the rossoneri’s failure to qualify for the Champions League: “I would say in full American Style. OK Ibra, but the other names don’t reassure me at all.”

“I read about possible English or American sports directors when the Italian ones are absolute excellence. But why? Unbelievable. It’s like being at the Eastern Fair. I am shocked,” Don Fabio stressed. “What would I do? The biggest mistake is that no one has been able to understand the reason for this meltdown. Why in the first 25 days did the team lose only one game and in the last 13 as many as seven? Before sending everyone away, a reason had to be traced. If you identify it, then you are well on your way. If not, you can’t make choices, it’s useless to cut off heads.”

On Andoni Iraola’s likely no: “His teams play really well, Bournemouth has been a surprise since the beginning of the Premier League. Now it’s like he’s singing at La Scala. He coaches in England, in the most important tournament of all. And he would leave it for what? Unfortunately, we have no more appeal. Instead, he knows very well that with another such good year and with favorable coincidences he could soon find himself at the helm of a top club fighting for the Premier.”

According to Capello, few are saved: “Many of those who have taken the field in the last few games I would send away. In the first part of the season they played at least effective soccer. But if you’re at Milan you can’t go from 100 to 50 in a few weeks.”
