Calm and chalk: Jannik Sinner’s program to be on top at Wimbledon

Jannik Sinner is licking his wounds and, more importantly, regaining his lost balance. After the bitter and untimely elimination from Roland Garros, the world number 1 is recharging his batteries. He is doing it calmly and chalkily, away from the spotlight.

Restoring himself, analyzing when it happened with lucidity, figuring out how to prevent it from happening again. That’s the program the South Tyrolean is following, determined to be ready, 100 percent, on June 29, the day Wimbledon, the most important tournament of the season, kicks off.

Jannik Sinner comes to it as the defending champion. He wants to be at the top to try for an encore that would be legendary. To remove any doubts, there is also talk of a visit, already scheduled, to the JMedical in Turin, probably in the middle of next week, to do a 360-degree check.

The Italian wants to have all the answers and understand what to do to avoid that he may find himself in a situation similar to the one he experienced in the challenge with Juan Manuel Cerundolo. Coming off completely was hugely important. After winning five Masters 1000s in a row, spending so much physically and mentally, a break was needed but a clear schedule is needed to get back to being the real Jannik Sinner.
