Jannik Sinner and other world-class tennis stars are reportedly ready to send a strong message to continue their protest regarding prize money at Grand Slam tournaments. According to The Times, the world No. 1, along with other top players, is reportedly considering a high-profile initiative that could take place during the 2026 US Open, scheduled for late August.

Specifically, Sinner and his colleagues on the ATP and WTA tours are reportedly ready to boycott the mixed doubles tournament taking place at Flushing Meadows before the start of the main singles draw. The organizers of the New York Slam have been placing great emphasis on this event since 2025, transforming it into an invitational tournament featuring all the world’s top players. For some time, athletes have been asking for a larger share of the revenue generated by Grand Slam tournaments, and boycotting the event could be the first strong signal they send to the organizers.

Sinner himself spoke clearly at a press conference at Roland Garros: “We know the Slams are more prestigious, but right now they’re giving us too little. We’ve been silent for too long, and the time has come to speak up. There’s an ongoing dialogue between us players and the Slams; we’re at a moment where women and men are united in demanding more respect.”

Meanwhile, Wimbledon has announced the highest prize pool ever for its 2026 edition, totaling approximately 74.4 million euros, a 10% increase from last year’s edition. The singles champions will take home an unprecedented sum of approximately €4.2 million—about €700,000 more than what the champions of the previous edition received. Debbie Jevans, president of the All England Club, stated: “We will always prioritize the players, both through prize money and by investing in our world-class facilities and the services we offer on-site.”
