2026 World Cup: Haiti vs. Scotland, probable lineups

Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts (home of the NFL’s New England Patriots) is hosting a match that’s a first in World Cup history: Haiti vs. Scotland. The match is scheduled for 3 a.m. Italian time on the night between Saturday and Sunday, 9 p.m. on the U.S. East Coast; Algerian referee Ghorbal will officiate.
This is Haiti’s second-ever World Cup appearance, the first since 1974: on that occasion, the Grenadiers finished the group stage with zero points but gave Italy quite a scare by taking the lead through Emmanuel Sanon, before the Azzurri staged a comeback thanks to goals from Rivera and Anastasi, with an own goal by Auguste in between. Soccer remains a tool for redemption for a nation torn apart by civil war and a team forced to play its entire qualifying group—for this reason—entirely on the road.
Scotland is also returning from a long absence, having been absent from the World Cup since 1998: the Tartan Army heads to the 2026 World Cup with great enthusiasm, riding the wave of a qualification secured in the final minutes of their last qualifying group match against Denmark. In their eight previous appearances, the Scots have never advanced past the first round: it is up to Scott McTominay, the undisputed star of Steve Clarke’s team, to achieve the goal of reaching the knockout stage for the first time in Scotland’s long history.
