Roma Transfer Market: Paulo Dybala Remains Vague About His Future; Giallorossi Step Up Their Pursuit, With Two Alternative Targets

Paulo Dybala’s future is looking increasingly uncertain: with no summer commitments and not part of the Argentine national team competing in the 2026 World Cup, the 1993-born player has returned to Córdoba, where he gave an interview to ESPN Argentina, suggesting he still hasn’t made up his mind about what the future holds after wearing the Roma jersey—with mixed results—over the past four seasons.
“I haven’t decided yet what I’ll do next season,” said ‘La Joya’. “Until the end of June, I’m a Roma player, and out of respect for my club, I’d rather not say anything else. Return to Argentina? Anything can happen, but right now there’s nothing concrete. Many times I’ve imagined something might happen, and instead the opposite has happened.”
With the renewal issue hanging in the balance just over two weeks before the contract expires, Roma doesn’t want to be caught off guard and is working to secure an alternative for Gian Piero Gasperini in the second striker role: Mason Greenwood remains the top candidate, but in the last 24 hours, rumors have grown increasingly persistent that the Giallorossi are interested in Christian Pulisic, a player for Milan and the U.S. national team.
New sporting director Tony D’Amico, who is reunited with Gasperini after their time together at Atalanta, is ready to table an offer to the Rossoneri representatives to assess the feasibility of the deal. Compared to Greenwood, Pulisic would be less of a financial burden on the club and already has experience in the Italian league: the coming days will be decisive in choosing one of these two paths, especially if Dybala decides to end his time at Roma.
