Brescia bids farewell to Burnell in style; the American’s future is already set

As widely anticipated under the terms of his contract, Jason Burnell has officially left Germani Brescia. The blue-and-white club, in a statement released on Tuesday, bid farewell to the 1997-born basketball player, who spent three seasons in Brescia, even reaching a historic Scudetto final during the 2024-2025 season.
“Pallacanestro Brescia bids farewell and thanks Jason Burnell for the three wonderful seasons we spent together,” the statement reads. “A fruitful journey together that, thanks to the club’s sports and organizational structure and the player’s strong work ethic, allowed Jason Burnell—with his rare and unique qualities—to achieve his career-best performance to date during his time in Brescia.”
Burnell’s future is already set: next year, the Jacksonville State University product will wear the jersey of a EuroLeague club, with Olimpia Milano in pole position to secure the services of the now former Brescia player. In the background, further down the line, Virtus Bologna is also in the mix, but the presence of Peppe Poeta—his coach at Olimpia Milano in 2024–2025—on the Scarpette Rosse bench is expected to be the decisive factor in the deal’s success.
Born in DeLand, Florida, on August 15, 1997, Jason Burnell arrived in Italy in 2019 after going undrafted in the NBA Draft. In his first season in Italy, he played for Cantù, then moved to Dinamo Sassari between 2020 and 2022 and to Brindisi in 2022-2023. In the summer of 2023, he moved to Brescia, where three seasons confirmed his status as a top-tier player in the Italian league.
