Milan Transfer Market: Amorin Brings His Great Rival Gonçalo Ramos to the Rossoneri

Ruben Amorim’s arrival on the Milan bench—made official late yesterday afternoon on the Rossoneri’s website—is certainly not intended to keep Rafael Leao from leaving, as he has repeatedly stated his desire to leave Milan in recent weeks. At the same time, it’s equally plausible that the Portuguese coach is paying particular attention to players from his home country, especially those he knows well.

One name that stands out is Gonçalo Ramos, whom Amorim faced several times during his time at Sporting in heated derbies against Benfica. Given Milan’s chronic need for a center forward, the idea is by no means far-fetched, even if making such a move feasible this summer would be anything but simple.

On the contractual front, Amorim has signed a three-year deal with an option for an additional season—a detail that exceeds initial expectations and sends a clear signal of Gerry Cardinale’s confidence in him. The coach commented: “There are ambitions that stay with you throughout your career, and for me, coaching Milan has always been one of them.” He then added: “I know what this club represents—its history, its prestige, and its global fan base. It’s a challenge I take on with pride and enthusiasm.”

Now, however, it’s time to get down to business, especially in the transfer market, in coordination with the management and the possible new corporate structure that could include Markus Krösche as CEO of football and Timmo Hardung as his deputy.
