The long-awaited NBA Draft took place last night. Washington selected AJ Dybantsa with the first overall pick. The former BYU player is a natural talent: atstanding 2.06 meters tall, he averaged 25.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.1 steals, shooting 51% from the field, in his only college season.

“Obviously, having been the No. 1 player throughout my high school career, I absolutely wanted to be selected as the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft and be compared to players of the caliber of LeBron James, Cooper Flagg, Allen Iverson, and others like them,” said the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft, as reported by ESPN.

With the arrival of AJ Dybantsa, Washington hopes to raise its level of play. The Wizards haven’t made the playoffs since 2021 and haven’t advanced past the second round since 1979, when the then-Bullets lost the NBA Finals.

““We’re following the plan we set out,” Wizards owner Ted Leonsis told ESPN. ““We’re actually a year ahead of schedule, because I thought it would take four or five years, and this has been the third offseason where we’ve focused on developing young players, rebuilding, and looking for reinforcements for the future.”
