Milan is very close to signing Mario Gila. The Rossoneri have secured the Lazio defender, reaching an agreement with the player on a five-year contract worth 5 million euros net per season, according to a report by Sky Sport on Friday. The next step will be to finalize the deal with Lazio: the asking price is 30 million, but Milan’s management expects to reach an agreement early next week with an offer of 25 million plus 5 in bonuses.

The Rossoneri’s accelerated push carries particular significance for Napoli. The Azzurri had been pursuing Gila for weeks but never managed to reach an agreement with Lazio: on the very day Massimiliano Allegri was officially announced as the Neapolitans’ new coach, Milan pulled off the decisive move, offering the player a higher salary and acting with great speed.

For Allegri—fresh off the 2025–2026 season on the Rossoneri bench, which ended with his dismissal after failing to qualify for the Champions League—this is a real setback at the start of his new Neapolitan adventure: in fact, it is Milan that is about to snatch away the defender the club had identified as its top priority to bolster the back line.

The club owned by De Laurentiis, which is currently handling player sales to free up funds for new signings, is thus left out of the running: Barring any surprises, Gila will don the Rossoneri colors upon the completion of a deal that Milan has pursued with determination and is now ready to finalize.
