The High Diving World Cup Makes a Stop in Porto Flavia: 40 Top Athletes in Attendance

This weekend, Porto Flavia, Sardinia, will host the highly anticipated High Diving World Cup. This iconic High Diving World Cup, organized by World Aquatics—the global governing body for aquatic sports—and hosted by Marmeeting, an Italian organization with thirty years of experience in organizing major sporting events, will once again transform Sardinia into the world capital of high-diving.
The stars of the weekend will be 40 elite athletes from 17 countries, ready to compete high above the sea using two incredible platforms installed directly on the historic Sardinian cliffs of Porto Flavia. The divers will launch themselves from thrilling heights—27 meters for men and 20 meters for women—performing breathtaking maneuvers in the air and reaching an impact speed with the water of over 85 km/h in less than three seconds.
In the women’s competition, the standout remains Australia’s Rhiannan Iffland, the undisputed queen of the discipline and last year’s winner in Porto Flavia. Ahead of the competition, the iconic champion of this sport—with five world gold medals to her name—stated: “My preparation for this event is going very well. Lately, I’ve been focusing a lot on the finer details and perfecting my dives to be ready for this World Cup stop.” – Rhiannan Iffland adds – “I can’t wait to return to Porto Flavia, one of my absolute favorite places. In our sport, we visit incredible places, but Porto Flavia is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating.”
On the men’s side, however, all eyes will be on American James Lichtenstein, fresh off his historic first victory in Porto Flavia, where he managed to edge out Romanian star Constantin Popovici and Spain’s Carlos Gimeno.
