Wimbledon: Jannik Sinner Warned: “Concerns About the Second Week”

Kecmanovic, Borges, and Brooksby: Jannik Sinner’s performances have gone from strength to strength during this first week at Wimbledon. After defeating the Serbian in a grueling five-set match, the Italian overcame the Portuguese player by winning two tiebreakers, while he faced less difficulty against the American. The world No. 1’s rhythm and performance are improving step by step, and at a press conference, Sinner said he was satisfied with his experience in London so far.
On his “Off Court” podcast, however, former British tennis player Greg Rusedski issued a warning to Sinner ahead of the second week of competition at Wimbledon. “My concern for Sinner is that the temperature will rise in the second week. That it will get really hot, like last week.”
“At that point, the question will be: Will he be able to handle the heat and the temperature? I think that’s exactly what scares him the most. Furthermore, he’s not a natural grass-court player, even though he won Wimbledon. In this second week, we’ll find out if he’s found a solution to the heat problem.”
According to the weather forecast, the weather in London for next week will be hot, mostly sunny, and largely dry, with high temperatures ranging between 28 and 32 degrees. On Sunday, Sinner will face the unknown quantity Mochizuki, who knocked out rising star Rafael Jodar.
