Kimi Antonelli: A Disappointing Sunday—A Sudden Breakdown Ruins the Race

Kimi Antonelli’s Sunday at Silverstone turned into a nightmare in a matter of minutes. The Mercedes driver from Bologna, who until then had been in the thick of the battle for the podium and was even poised to challenge Leclerc for the win, saw his race fall apart due to a sudden problem with his right front suspension.
It all began with less than ten laps to go, when Antonelli suddenly slowed down, reporting over the radio that he had “something broken on the car.” His pit stop confirmed the severity of the situation: despite a tire and front-wing change, the car continued to struggle to maintain the ideal line. “The suspension broke,” Kimi said, as he still tried to figure out if it was possible to continue.
The team tried to get him back on the track, but the problem persisted. Antonelli lost positions, was overtaken by Hadjar, and found himself battling in mid-pack traffic, far removed from the battle that, just a few laps earlier, had seemed within his reach. There were heated discussions over the radio: Kimi still wanted to hang on to try to score some points, despite the critical situation.
After another pit stop on lap 47, Antonelli returned to the track in tenth place, behind Bortoleto and ahead of Colapinto, but with a car that continued to show worrying signs. It was a dramatic finish, just as the driver from Bologna seemed poised to fight for the win.
