Marc Marquez will start from pole position in both the Sprint Race and the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring, a track that has historically favored him. The Catalan rider on the factory Ducati set the fastest time overall in the decisive Q2 session, clocking a fastest lap of 1:19.041 and beating his brother Alex—riding for the Gresini team—by 61 thousandths of a second.

Rounding out an all-Ducati front row is Fabio Di Giannantonio of Team VR46, 147 thousandths behind. Starting from the second row, in order, are the Aprilia Trackhouse bikes ridden by Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura (+0.151 and +0.307, respectively) and the surprising Yamaha of Fabio Quartararo (+0.342).

Franco Morbidelli (Ducati VR46, +0.491) will lead the third row, followed by Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia, +0.491), who suffered a nasty crash at Turn 7 and was forced to remain in the pits during the final minutes. Behind him is his teammate Jorge Martin (+0.687). Rounding out the top twelve are Pedro Acosta (KTM, +0.699), Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati, +0.712), and Jack Miller (Pramac Yamaha, +0.740). For Bagnaia, who had started from Q1, it was a difficult session in which he was never able to close the gap to the leaders.

Starting from the thirteenth grid position onward will be Joan Mir (Honda), Luca Marini (Honda), Diogo Moreira (Honda LCR), Brad Binder (KTM), Enea Bastianini (KTM Tech3), Toprak Razgatlioglu (Yamaha Pramac), Alex Rins (Yamaha), Maverick Viñales (KTM Tech3), and Cal Crutchlow (Honda LCR)—all riders who failed to qualify for the decisive session.
