Cantù: Only Two “Survivors” Left—The Revolution Continues

The Acqua S.Bernardo Cantù roster has begun to take shape with the official signing of Chad Brown, but the American center will certainly not be the last new addition to Frank Vitucci’s team. The 30-year-old, after a long career in Europe and the United States, will share the center position with Leonardo Okeke in a season that will also mark the club’s return to the new Cantù Arena, which is set to open in February.
The club’s goal is clear: to secure safety early on, avoiding a relegation battle that drags on until the final games of an increasingly competitive league. The roster is set to undergo significant changes. In fact, key players such as Erick Green, Grant Basile, Sneed, Ballo, Fevrier—who has moved to Lithuania—Chiozza, Andrea De Nicolao—who has gone to Pesaro—and Giovanni Bortolani have all left Cantù. The only players remaining are Leonardo Okeke and captain Riccardo Moraschini.
Among the new arrivals, point guard Semaj Christon—now in his seventh stint in Italy—stands out, along with Italian national team players Liam Udom and Matteo Parravicini. The club’s work, however, is far from over: several pieces are still missing, starting with a good portion of the starting five and depth on the wings.
It will be the foreign player market, above all, that determines the team’s competitive level. With a limited budget allocated to Italian players, Cantù will focus its investments on the four non-EU slots still to be filled, from which it will need to draw quality and crucial points.
