Milan Transfer Market: Trade with Lazio Gains Momentum

Contacts between Milan and Lazio are intensifying regarding a deal that could come together in the final weeks of the summer transfer window. The Rossoneri are looking for a new club for Fikayo Tomori, the English center back whom Ruben Amorim deemed unsuitable during preseason training.
The Portuguese coach has identified him, along with other players, as someone to be let go, and the former Chelsea player—who has a contract with the Rossoneri through 2027—is set to leave the club and join another team before the transfer window closes. But he might decide to stay in Italy: Lazio is reportedly interested in him, and according to La Repubblica, the club is considering a swap deal involving surplus players with Milan.
The Biancocelesti want to offload Nuno Tavares, who had previously been offered to the Rossoneri: the Portuguese player, valued at around 20 million euros, is a full-back who could be considered a useful alternative by Amorim.
Lazio isn’t the only club interested in the former Chelsea center back: Juventus has also expressed interest, with Giovanni Carnevali reportedly considering a double signing from Milan that would include Youssouf Fofana. The Bianconeri could take advantage of the Englishman’s impending contract expiration to secure his transfer on favorable terms, with a fee of around 15 million euros potentially enough to convince the Rossoneri. From the Premier League, Newcastle and Coventry have already made their interest known, although so far no concrete offers have reached the Rossoneri’s management.
Tomori’s situation is part of a broader picture of player departures that remains largely unresolved for Milan. Amorim has ruled out several players from the squad following the Asian tour: in addition to the Englishman, several other players are no longer part of the plan, including Youssouf Fofana, Christopher Nkunku, and Santiago Gimenez—the latter now close to joining Porto on loan with an option to buy for around 20–22 million.
