Monza only held out for one half against Inter at the Meazza. The Italian champions defeated the newly promoted team from Brianza 4-1.

The Nerazzurri took an early lead with a rocket from Calhanoglu, but Varela equalized before halftime. After the break, Pizzignacco clumsily deflects a shot; Zielinski capitalizes to make it 2-1. Then came goals from Pio Esposito (a spectacular backheel) and Bisseck, sealing a 4-1 victory.

Just a few minutes before kickoff, Nerazzurri president Giuseppe Marotta sought to clarify the future of Lautaro Martinez, who in recent days has been at the center of transfer rumors suggesting he is on Barcelona’s radar: “Lautaro is our captain and embodies Inter’s current history. What I can say is that the conditions aren’t right for him to leave Inter. It’s not even worth discussing.”

The Nerazzurri president then left the door open to a possible transfer move to further strengthen the attack, while emphasizing the quality of the roster available to Cristian Chivu: “Sign another forward? We’re careful to seize opportunities, coordinating with the coach and thanks to the ownership’s support. In recent years, we’ve made significant investments. If there’s a chance to invest again, we’ll do so, even though this roster is highly competitive as it is,” he explained.

Marotta also touched on the team’s renewal and the decisions made during the last transfer window, with particular reference to the English players who joined the Nerazzurri: “We built this team a few years ago with the goal of making it a long-lasting one, which is why we’ve never made many changes. This year, we had to deal with the age of certain players whom we reluctantly let go. We’ve signed players who have won a combined total of about 30 titles; this underscores the importance of our objectives. Beyond the technical aspects, this factor is also crucial in modern soccer.”
