Andrea Kimi Antonelli dominates in Austin but has to postpone his world championship celebration: after securing pole position, the Mercedes driver won the United States Grand Prix in Texas, reaffirming his overwhelming superiority over the rest of the field, both in terms of speed and tire management.

The Bologna-born driver finished ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who managed to edge out Red Bull champion Max Verstappen after a thrilling duel. Fourth place went to the other Ferrari, driven by Lewis Hamilton.

Next came Norris, Hadjar, Piastri, and Antonelli’s teammate, George Russell, whose eighth-place finish pushed back the Emilian’s title celebration by a week.

In all likelihood, Kimi will be crowned world champion in Mexico: he’ll clinch the title if he finishes ninth, but even a tenth-place finish could be enough if Russell doesn’t win. Antonelli could even become champion if he retires: for him to celebrate the title, neither George Russell nor Lewis Hamilton can win the race.
