Lazio, Maurizio Sarri: “We didn’t deserve the defeat.”
Sarri comments on elimination from Europa League
Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri spoke after the defeat on the field of Feyenoord, which cost the biancoceleste team their exit from the Europa League and ‘relegation’ to the Conference League.
“The attitude was good throughout the match, maybe we had to suffer a moment more in some moments, but we did not concede much. We are responsible for not finalizing four to five chances and then we were punished. I saw a team that was alive, determined, at times showing good soccer, it is a defeat we did not deserve. But the team did not disappoint me today,” the former Napoli and Juventus coach among others told Sky Sport microphones.
“We only missed one game. In Graz we took a good point, at home in a numerical parity we would have gotten a different result, we only missed that one against Midtjylland. In the Europa League it is enough not to go and miss a game completely, because in the cup being a round of six games, you cannot allow to miss one, maybe in the league you can because you have more time to recover,” the Tuscan coach continued.
