Sofia Goggia and Laura Pirovano were big stars of the 2026 Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup, which ended in the past few days on the slopes of the Lillehammer ski resort: the Bergamo-born skier won the Super-G specialty cup for the first time in her career, while the 29-year-old from Trentino won the downhill cup.

The two Azzurre can also smile on the economic front: both appear on the list of the highest-paid female skiers in the 2025-2026 season. Mikaela Shiffrin, who won the overall World Cup, earned about 615,000 euros, ahead of Germany’s Emma Aicher (387,000 euros) and Austria’s Julia Scheib (340,000 euros).

Sofia Goggia took fifth place: this season the Bergamo native has earned 295,000 euros in total prize money. Laura Pirovano is seventh with earnings of 236 thousand euros. Among the other Italian athletes, Elena Curtoni is 19th with 95 thousand euros, Nicol Delago 22nd with 81 thousand euros, Lara Della Mea 29th with 52 thousand euros.

Federica Brignone, who practically skipped the whole season due to injury, is 58th with 15 thousand euros. The account does not include prize money for Olympic medals. Sofia Goggia last year finished third, with roughly similar earnings. Her best result came in the 2022-2023 season, where she earned about 338 thousand euros.

Among the men, the Swiss Marco Odermatt excelled with 741 thousand euros, ahead of Brazilian Lucas Braathen (359 thousand euros). Also in the men’s ranking there are two Italians in the Top 10: they are Giovanni Franzoni (254 thousand euros in prize money) and Dominik Paris (221 thousand euros in prize money). Alex Vinatzer is 21st with 76 thousand euros earned.

Sofia Goggia and Laura Pirovano will both be at the Tonale Ski Area on Sunday to take part in the “Elly Fanchini Day” event in honor of Elena Fanchini, an Italian skier who died at just 37 years old after a terrible illness.
