Massimiliano Allegri takes to the ball and social media goes crazy

This time Massimiliano Allegri was not on the bench dictating the tempo of his Milan team, but sitting on the sidelines to enjoy another of his great passions: basketball. The coach from Livorno, in fact, experienced as a spectator, at the Unipol Forum in Assago, Thursday night’s match between Olimpia Milano and Bayern Munich, valid for the penultimate day of the Euroleague regular season.
Allegri has always been a lover of basketball, a discipline he has more than once cited as a yardstick in his press conferences.
The Milan coach was welcomed with full honors and before the two-game ball he was handed an Olimpia jersey with the number 1 on it, a symbolic gesture that immediately ignited the curiosity of the fans in attendance and, above all, fans on social media.
To complete the evening, a photo that started circulating on the web within minutes: Allegri posing together with Ettore Messina, until a few months ago head coach and today President of Basketball Operations of Olimpia, and Pantaleo Dell’Orco, president of the biancorosso club. A snap that unites different worlds, which quickly made the rounds of the platforms.
On social media, predictably, the reaction exploded: between those who joked, imagining Allegri ready to reinvent himself as a basketball coach, those who called him a “short snout playmaker,” and those who, more simply, appreciated his presence in a sports context that does not concern him on a daily basis.
They also didn’t miss which blow: with Olimpia plunged over 20 points deficit in the third quarter, a comment appeared on ‘X’ that immediately inflamed the discussion, “Allegri Effect.” A post that immediately went viral among fans, triggering both positive and negative reactions on the sidelines of a difficult evening for Milanese basketball.
