ATP Monza Open 26, victory goes to Collignon, who celebrates an encore.

The Monza Open 26 goes, once again, to Raphael Collignon. The number 1 seed on the ATP Challenger 125 drawboard played at Villa Reale, in Monza, won in the final against Dino Primzic in two sets: 7-6, 6-3 the match partials. For the Belgian born in 2002 it was the second consecutive victory in the Monza tournament, now in its second edition.
After the performance of the dance group Area Danza and the singing performance of Mimi Caruso, winner of the 2024 edition of X Factor, space was given to the final. In the first set both tennis players kept a very high level of play. Raphael Collignon squandered a couple of tasty chances to break and, in the end, it went to the tie-break. It was all easy for the Belgian, who easily went up 5-1, then closed 7-2.
Leading by a set, the No. 1 seed upped the pace further from the back court. The first break of the match launched Raphael Collignon to victory as he closed out the match 6-3. Kudos, however, to Dino Prizmic. The Croatian, class 20025, will be among the top Top 100 in the ATP rankings as of Monday.
“I played really well this week. There were a lot of good players, it was difficult. I’m happy with the win. The final? It was a good final. The first set was very tight. I knew that whoever won the first set would have a big advantage. I like this tournament, the courts, the people. I feel comfortable here in Monza,” Raphael Collignon’s post-match words.
