Neven Spahija has returned to talk at a time when rumors and speculation about the future of the bench have been growing around his Reyer Venezia. In particular, there has been persistent talk of a possible arrival of Luca Banchi as a possible successor, an indiscretion that has fueled the debate and inevitably increased pressure on the environment.

The coach tried to bring the focus back to the team and its daily work, stressing his willingness not to be influenced by external rumors: “Every now and then we win, too… We have tried to ignore external rumors and stay focused on our daily work.”

The Croatian, who has led Reyer this season keeping the team steadily in the upper zones of the standings, has always shown great professionalism even in the most delicate moments. In recent weeks, he had expressed words of solidarity towards his colleague Veljko Mrsic of Sassari, stating, “Veljko, besides being my colleague, has been a friend for many years. I love him, I really hope that Sassari will find a way to get back to winning the games it needs to center salvation.”

The Reyer is in fourth position with 36 points, the same as Olimpia Milano, behind Brescia and Virtus Bologna paired at the top with 40 points. A positive balance that has seen the orogranata protagonists of an unblemished path on the road in calendar year 2026, with high-level performances such as the 79-98 inflicted on Sassari at PalaSerradimigni. The goal of the Venetian management is to build a competitive team also from a European perspective, especially in view of the future 10,000-plus seat arena and the Euroleague dream.
