End of story, Leicester relegates to League One: fans don’t believe it

A disastrous fall, definitely difficult to accept. Complicated with Hull City (2-2) decreed, officially, Leicester’s relegation to League One, the English third tier. A hard blow for a club that, in a few days, will celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the crazy Premier League victory with Ranieri at the helm.
In the last ten years, the Foxes have lost all the magic, so much so that they ended up playing in League One. Leicester fans continue to support the team but it is clear that the frustration is enormous. Weighed in this year’s relegation is the penalty, of six points, incurred for violating the Profitability and Sustainability rules in the 2023/24 season. Penalization certified last February.
After several, great, satisfactions (they won the FA Cup in 2021, as well as the Premier League title in 2016), The Foxes have experienced three relegations in four seasons and, now, join Swindon Town, Wolves, Sunderland and Luton Town in the undesirable group of teams that have plummeted, in such a short time, from the Premier League to League One.
The 2026/27 season will be only Leicester’s second season in the third division in its 142-year history. It remains to be seen how the fans, who have been protesting against the ownership for some time, will fare, although support for the team is never lacking.
