The 2016 Giro d’Italia will start in a few days, and among the big favorites is certainly Vincenzo Nibali.
Sportal.it contacted Enrico Giancarli, a Sky Sport and Rete8 journalist, to ask him for a prediction on the most important Italian stage race: “Nibali is the big favorite for the final victory having already secured the Giro d’Italia, the Vuelta and the Tour de France. But the big question will be the physical condition: his approach to this Giro has not been the most exciting. In the Giro del Trentino he was not very bright.”
“Outsiders for the final victory? I think Dumoulin and Chaves can give us surprises – added Giancarli, a great cycling expert -. Also watch out for Russian Zakarin of Team Katusha. As for the Italians I would keep an eye on Giulio Ciccone of Bardiani-Csf, an Abruzzese who could come to triumph in some stages. He certainly won’t be racing for the overall win but he could be a nice revelation. I also really like Diego Rosa of Astana, but he will race the Tour.”
