Trent, background on divorce with Chancellor pops up. And on the future…

Now it’s official: Dolomiti Energia Trentino has announced that, at the end of this season, the paths of the club and coach Massimo Cancellieri will part. The club wanted to officially confirm the rumors that have been circulating in recent days, with the aim of keeping the focus exclusively on the end of the season, starting with Saturday night’s challenge against Napoli Basket.
“In February Massimo informed us of his decision to leave the club at the end of the season,” unveiled CEO Andrea Nardelli, “This has absolutely never affected his daily commitment, as demonstrated by the path he has taken, coming just one shot away from an extraordinary EuroCup semifinal. The coach has hit the goals we set at the beginning of the year, from salvation to the ability to compete at a high level both in Europe and in Italy. There are still three league games left and we will do everything we can to reach the postseason, which would represent an extraordinary goal.”
“Aquila Basket and the city of Trento will always have a special place in my heart,” commented Cancellieri, now close to signing with a Turkish club. I would first like to thank the club, the president and all the employees, but also the players and staff I have worked with this year. I am very proud of what we have accomplished in the EuroCup and the growth of this extremely diverse group. Whatever path life holds for me in the future, I will always remember that it was Trento that first trusted me and entrusted me with the role of head coach in the EuroCup. I wish the club the best for the future and I am sure we will meet again. But first, we will do everything to give ourselves something to remember in this final season.”
As for Trento’s bench, Luca Vitali, who is currently on the staff of Vanoli Cremona coach Pierluigi Brotto, is in pole position over alternatives Petteri Koponen and Ricky Fois.
