Como market, go-ahead for Fabregas at the big one. But he stalls

After three knockouts in a row, two in the league and one in the Coppa Italia, Como is called to react: tomorrow at 3 p.m. they challenge Genoa at the Ferraris. The goal is to get back to scoring points to get closer to the Champions zone, five points away, or at least defend the fifth place shared with Roma. Cesc Fabregas was direct: an immediate response is needed.
The negative moment comes after a phase of the season when the Larians had impressed with continuity and quality of play. Before the losing streak, Como had strung together five consecutive league victories, a string that had concretely boosted hopes of a Champions League spot. The last setback before the collapse had come on April 6 on the Udinese field, with a scoreless draw that had interrupted the positive streak and left some regrets: the Friulani had committed Kempf in the final with Zaniolo, while for the Larians only a guizzo by Douvikas neutralized by Okoye remained.
The Coppa Italia had reserved a further disappointment. Against Inter, Como had come within a step of the final, ahead 2-0 and with qualification almost in the bag. The 2-1 goal had changed the inertia of the match, and in the end the Nerazzurri had got the better of it. Fabregas had chosen not to be dramatic: “I know where we started the journey and we are on a great path. I’m calm, I knew these guys would give a great performance today. Great pride, even if we are still missing a little something.” The coach had then added, “We are playing against a veteran team, which has been playing for 6-7 years together. For me it was important to see the reaction, inside the area they are very strong while we are still missing a little piece.”
The coach avoided commenting on the rumors that approach him to the Chelsea bench, as well as the statements of chairman Mirwan Suwarso, who to “City AM” opened to a possible farewell: if London would make him happy, there would be no obstacles. He stressed, however, that although he is also a shareholder in the club, the situation would only become delicate in the event of a move to another Italian club.
This is not the first time that Fabregas’ name has been approached by other clubs. In recent months, Roma had also sounded out the Spanish coach, with former sporting director Florent Ghisolfi moving at length asking the Hartono ownership to release him. The go-ahead had never come, and the Giallorossi had then turned to other options, until the final choice of Gian Piero Gasperini.
Fabregas, for his part, cut it short: this is not the time to think about such things. No contact, just total concentration on the next game against Genoa.
