Marc Marquez commented enthusiastically on his roaring victory in the sprint race of the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Ducati rider was good but also lucky in Jerez. The number 93 fell at a crucial moment of the race, but in the best area to come back to the pits, change the bike and then win the race.

“Never won a race after a fall, I fell at the best moment and in the best area. Someone today from above gave me a hand, I thought the only chance was to put on the wet tires. Then I pushed and I did it….” Thanks to this success Marquez, who finished ahead of teammate Pecco Bagnaia climbs up to fourth place in the overall standings at -24 from leader Bezzecchi, who fell during the frantic laps in the rain.

Brandmate Franco Morbidelli, who finished in third position, analyzed the crazy mini-race as follows: “It was a crazy race, until the rain came I was behind the leading group and everything happened. Fortunately, I was good to get back before the others and I followed Pecco.”

“For me a fantastic result dedicated to those who suffer and those who think they can’t make it or think they are worse than the others or without a chance. This podium is for them.”

Filling out the top ten in the Jerez Sprint Race were Brad Binder in fourth, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio and Raul Fernandez. Seventh place for Fabio Quartararo, then Johann Zarco, Luca Marini and Alex Rins. Instead, it was a day to forget for Aprilia: in addition to Bezzecchi’s crash, Jorge Martin was forced to retire with a brake problem, leaving the Noale-based manufacturer empty-handed in a race that looked like it could be favorable.
