Fulvio Collovati could not miss the presentation of the book “And I was Gentile,” an event that turned into a nice reunion among some of the protagonists of the 1982 World Cup triumph.
“The great team spirit was the secret of that historic victory,” the former defender recalled to the microphones of Sportal.it. “There were great men and great players who made soccer history. It was the same in 2006, every era has its own.”
“Without great players you go nowhere but you also need great motivation and luck,” he added.
Turning to current events, Collovati took stock of his former teams, starting with AC Milan: “They keep changing coaches, but something is wrong at the source. It’s a combination of things, but there is less quality and different projects than there used to be.”
“Inter gives the impression of spending more, but then misses goals and goes back to spending on others. Insisting on Mancini would be good but without giving him too much power. It is the club that has to choose the players. Inter however seems to have a more solid framework than Milan.”
