Marco Bezzecchi breathes a sigh of relief after his second place in the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez. The Aprilia rider saw his series of consecutive victories interrupted, but he retained the lead in the overall standings and, above all, redeemed himself after Saturday’s bitter Sprint race, where he had fallen.

“I’m very happy: it was a beautiful race, today it was important to make up for it after yesterday’s Sprint. It was a bit of a suffered weekend, far from easy. Alex was simply too fast today, kudos to him. I did my best, I gave it my all.”

“At the beginning I tried to follow Alex and Marc – is the analysis of his race -. Then I made a little elastic with Alex but when I made a little mistake he gave a rip and at that point I gave up and thought about defending myself from Di Giannantonio. Of course I kept pushing. Unfortunately I wasn’t even too good physically. Now we’re thinking about the next ones and before that about the tests on Monday,” concluded the Aprilia rider, who focused his attention on the tests to be held at the Jerez circuit.

Completing the podium in Sunday’s race was Fabio Di Giannantonio, the Valentino Rossi’s VR46 team rider. Fourth place for Bezzecchi’s brand mate Jorge Martin, while Ai Ogura, Raul Fernandez, Johann Zarco, Enea Bastianini, Fermin Aldeguer and Pedro Acosta also finished in the top ten. On the other hand, it was a black Sunday for the factory Ducati: Marc Marquez crashed after the second lap when he was in second position, while Pecco Bagnaia was forced to retire mid-race due to a technical problem with his bike. For the Lenovo team it was the ninth consecutive race without podiums, the worst fast for over twelve years.
