Tennis, United Cup: the Azzurri will take on Norway and Brazil

The Sydney urn smiled on the Azzurri. In the new United Cup, Italy will face Norway and Brazil. The event that replaces the ATP Cup will feature mixed teams, consisting of four tennis players and four female players based on an agreement between ATP and WTA. It will open the new tennis season with the start set for Dec. 29 and close on Jan. 8. It will take place in Australia in three different cities-Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
The competition will run from six Italian rounds until the Final Four in Sydeny, scheduled for Jan. 6-8. The Azzurri have been drawn in Group E with Casper Ruud’s Norway, No. 3 in the ATP rankings, and Beatriz Haddad Maia’s Brazil, No. 15 in the WTA rankings. The group will be played in Brisbane and each inter-national match will feature two men’s singles, two women’s singles and one mixed doubles.
Italy will be without Jannik Sinner, present instead will be Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Musetti. The other two Italian tennis players will be Andrea Vavassori and Marco Bortolotti. Among the women will be Martina Trevisan, Lucia Bronzetti, Camilla Rosatello and Nuria Brancaccio.
