Overcoming in just under an hour and a half the resistance of Frenchman Arthur Fils, Jannik Sinner won his fourth consecutive final after those in Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo. It was a real tour de force for the South Tyrolean, who at the same time is working to prepare for the two crucial late spring events, the Internazionali d’Italia and Roland Garros.

It was precisely about physical fitness and the need to maintain a constant state of form that was discussed in the press room at the Caja Magica, where Sinner answered a specific question on the subject: “These days I’m mainly trying to recover energy, starting with sleep: last night I slept really well and this morning I woke up with very positive feelings,” explained the world number one.

“In the last month and a half I’ve been playing a lot, getting to the bottom of almost every tournament: that’s an important sign, but it’s normal to accumulate some fatigue,” added Sinner. “At the same time, when you face semifinals and finals there’s always that component of adrenaline that pushes you, that keeps you fired up. Between this tournament and Rome I’ll try to recharge my batteries again and then we’ll see how things go.”

The current one is Jannik Sinner’s sixth tournament played in 2026.

After disappointments at the Australian Open (defeat in the semifinals against Novak Djokovic) and the ATP 500 in Doha (surprise victory by Jakub Mensik in the quarters), Jannik began an incredible positive series first on cement and then on clay, which led him to win the Sunshine Double (Indian Wells and Miami), before triumphing in Monte Carlo against longtime rival Carlos Alcaraz.

Friday’s success against Fils is the 22nd consecutive on the major circuit for Sinner, who not only because of series wins but also because of Carlos Alcaraz’s forfeits due to injury will nimbly maintain the number one position in the world rankings at least until the next Wimbledon tournament.
