Allianz Milano, the new coach is Guillermo Falasca

Just hours after saying goodbye to Roberto Piazza, a new phase opens for Allianz Powervolley Milano. Thus closes a cycle that was anything but ordinary: seven seasons of high level embellished by two Challenge Cups won, two playoff semifinals, three consecutive Italian Cup Final Fours, as well as qualifiers in the CEV and Champions League. An important path, which had followed the experiences of Andrea Giani and, before that, Luca Monti.
To inaugurate this new era, president Lucio Fusaro and general and sports director Fabio Lini chose Guillermo Falasca. An emerging profile but already established at the European level, called now to deal with one of the most ambitious places in Italian volleyball. For the Spanish coach, this is a return to Italy after the adventure in Cisterna and the recent experience in Poland. Falasca, 48, was born in Mendoza, Argentina, but at the age of 10 he moved with his family to Spain, settling in Malaga, the iconic city of Andalusia and home of Pablo Picasso. His roots, however, also speak Italian: his paternal grandfather was from Frosinone, his grandmother from Calabria.
“I think I feel most of all pride to arrive after a coach like Piazza and certainly, even after Andrea Giani – his first words. Milan has had a decade of some of the most important coaches in the world, and I am proud that Fabio Lini and Lucio Fusaro today have chosen me to carry on this important project in an incredible city like Milan. It makes me feel honored and also with a great responsibility. It is very nice indeed.”
