Juve market, Bernardo Silva’s arrival depends on Lecce

It’s not a Champions League night, but for Juventus it’s worth almost as much as a European final. In Lecce, the Bianconeri are playing a huge slice of the season, perhaps everything. At the Via del Mare there is much more than three points at stake: winning would mean finishing the day at least in third place, while a defeat would risk seriously complicating the Champions race with two days to go, before the decisive challenges against Fiorentina and Torino.

Entering or staying out of the Champions changes the scenarios completely, both sportingly and economically. At least 75 million euros are at stake, but also prestige and market appeal. Without the top European competition, some sacrifices would become inevitable and certain goals would remain only dreams, such as Bernardo Silva. It is a question of accounts, budgets and sustainability. Maybe not the 100 million mentioned by Massimiliano Allegri, but the Champions League weighs heavily on the club’s future plans.

The margin in the race for fourth place is razor-thin, while the economic gap between participating in the Champions League or staying out is huge. The last few seasons clearly demonstrate this: Juventus has collected about 66.5 million euros from UEFA premiums in 2024-2025 and a little less this year, partly due to the reduction in fees related to market pool and ranking. Added to these numbers is the value of the box office: the Allianz Stadium regularly sells out on European nights and has guaranteed more than ten million euros in seasonal revenue.

Losing the Champions train would therefore mean giving up at least 75 million euros in total. Europa League and Conference League would still guarantee revenues, but the level would be quite different. And for Juventus, it would inevitably mean scaling back ambitions and prospects.
