Another major stop is on the way for Marc Marquez, who on Saturday, after his crash in the Sprint Race of the MotoGp French Grand Prix at Le Mans that left him with a fractured foot, announced that he will undergo surgery again on his troubled right shoulder, struggling with yet another problem.

On Sunday morning Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi updated on the situation: “As Marc explained, following the highside during yesterday’s Sprint here at the French GP, he suffered a fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot. Marc is in Madrid and will be operated on today. At the same time the right shoulder will also be fixed to resolve an old injury dating back to last year’s crash at the Indonesia GP.”

Tardozzi revealed that the shoulder surgery had already been scheduled: “Marc will not take part in next week’s Catalan GP. The whole Ducati Lenovo Team sends him best wishes. On one thing we are in complete agreement: his health remains the priority.”

The operation was necessary because of the pain caused by a screw touching his radial nerve: “He has shown himself to be a champion also in his declarations. After the Jerez crash he asked himself questions, about why he was fine at home, but riding the MotoGP he had problems, and he found the explanation,” are the words reported by Gpone.

The stop could be longer, as Tardozzi himself admitted: “We don’t know the recovery time, because the operation will also affect the affected nerve in the shoulder. As soon as he comes out of the operating room we will give further news.”
