Roma-Lazio and the other biggies at 12:30 p.m. or maybe not? The possible intervention of the prefect

A veritable national case. The schedule of the penultimate day of Serie A is generating endless controversy. When drawing up the calendars of the Italian top league, the final of the Internazionali d’Italia was not taken into account. Result: Roma-Lazio on the Sunday of the final of the most important tennis tournament in Italy, in the era of Jannik Sinner.
Not being able to play on Sunday evening (public order issues) and not being able to bring forward the challenge (and other matches with teams involved in the Champions sprint) to Saturday (Lazio plays the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday evening), that’s when the decision was reached to have the Capitoline derby and the Como-Parma, Genoa-Milan, Juventus-Fiorentina and Pisa-Napoli challenges all played at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 17.
“The simultaneousness of matches with the same objectives serves to protect the regularity of the championship. Therefore, by trying to keep all the needs together and relying on the professionalism and ability of our law enforcement agencies, the quaestor and the prefect, I am convinced that the lunch match solution is the most suitable,” De Siervo, chief executive of the Lega Serie A, ruled.
In fact, it would not be all settled yet. The final word rests with the prefect of Rome, who could overturn the decision, pointing to another solution. Which one? Moving the derby and other matches to Monday, in the evening time (6 p.m. or, perhaps, even 8:45 p.m.). There are those who also hope that the time of the final of the Internazionali d’Italia will be changed. In short, soccer would like a favor from tennis.
