The club Vanoli Basket Cremona has started the process to transfer its headquarters from Cremona to Rome, and the issue has also ended up at the FIP Federal Council: “The Federal Council, which met today in an extraordinary manner and in web conference mode, examined the documentation produced by the club Guerino Vanoli Basket Srl to transfer its headquarters from Cremona to Rome.”

“The Federal Council considered the application to have the requisites of merit, making its acceptance subject to compliance with the obligations and deadlines provided by the licensing manual for participation in the 2026/2027 Serie A Championship,” reads the official note.

Aldo Vanoli explained the reasons for the transfer as follows: “Vanoli Basket has never been just a team, but a community, a set of passionate and competent people who have flanked us, accompanied us and supported us in the best days and in the difficult moments. It is precisely this bond, more than anything else, that has led me in recent months to reflect on the future with great seriousness and attention.”

“Over the years I have always tried to ensure stability for the project, supporting it in the first person. Those who know our history know that every season has been a challenge: we have always worked with significantly fewer resources than those of other realities of Italian basketball with much larger reference basins, more modern facilities and economic availability not even comparable to ours. Nevertheless, we have managed to remain competitive, maintain the category and achieve important results. The secret? We have always invested in ideas and people, teaming up on and off the field, with careful management and accounts always under control. This is something of which I am particularly proud, because it testifies to the seriousness of the work done and the value of the people who have contributed to this project.”

“At the same time, it is clear that a model based on such a direct and continuous personal commitment, in an increasingly competitive competitive competitive competitive and financial environment, requires an effort that is difficult to sustain in the long run. For this reason, in recent months I have worked together with my family and my collaborators to identify solutions that could give further solidity to the project, including through the involvement of new investors. We initiated interlocutions, explored different possibilities, tried in every way to verify whether the conditions existed to continue the path by keeping it in the territory.”

“Unfortunately, these conditions did not materialize. Instead, an expression of interest by major foreign investors has materialized, who have expressed a willingness to develop our project in the city of Rome with an ambitious and long-term vision. Faced with this scenario, and in the absence of alternative solutions, I felt, with a sense of responsibility, to allow this opportunity to come to fruition. So Vanoli somehow will not die, its freshman will not disappear, its history will not be erased, but it will enter with its head held high into a new dimension.”

“It is a decision that I have not matured lightly, but with great care and difficulty, aware of the significance that this passage entails for the Cremonese territory and for all the people who have accompanied our journey in these years. There is sorrow, of course. But also the awareness that the history written in these years will remain forever in our memories and in our hearts,” the president wrote before thanking the city of Cremona and all the fans.
