Two former canturini for Dinamo Sassari

Not only in Brindisi but also in Sassari for the next season in the cadet league, the name of Nicola Brienza, who in 2023 and 2025 led his teams to promotion from A2 to A: first Pistoia and then Cantù, which exonerated him last January, has begun to circulate.

Pugliesi, who have closed the Bucchi chapter, and Sardinians (via Mrsic) are not the only ones, however, to have sights on him: in a domino effect of sorts, Brienza could land in Scafati, in case Vitucci (who has already said goodbye to the Campani) is with destination… Brianza, perhaps alongside Simone Giofrè, another old Brindisi acquaintance who has often formed a winning pair with Frank.

As far as Sassari is concerned, there is also talk of Pino Sacripanti, another reliable coach who has written important pages in Cantù and elsewhere but who is back from a not very fruitful experience in Pistoia.

In Scafati, meanwhile, the picture is becoming more precise. In addition to Brienza, two other profiles are on the yellow-blue management’s notebook: Piero Bucchi, who knows Serie A well and has already said goodbye to Brindisi after missing the promotion goal, and Demis Cavina, appreciated for his ability to work with heterogeneous rosters and for his human management of the group. Three options that differ in philosophy and background, but share the same ambition: to consolidate Scafati in the top series after the ride that led to promotion.

On the Cantù front, instead, Vitucci’s name remains the most natural one because of its history and affinity with Giofrè, but in the last hours the candidatures of Max Menetti and Alessandro Magro have also been added to the lot. The former is back from a sabbatical year after his experience at Zalgiris on Trinchieri’s staff, the latter was exonerated by Napoli last April 6 and is looking for a bench to relaunch himself after his heyday in Brescia, with which he won a Coppa Italia in 2023. Also in the background remain suggestions leading to Manuchar Markoishvili, a white-blue flag as a player now at the helm of Monaco, and Gianmarco Pozzecco, former national team coach currently at Galatasaray.

More complicating the picture around Scafati was also Paul Matiasic, president of CSG, who allegedly probed the Campania club as part of his frantic search for an Italian sports title. The answer from volcanic patron Nello Longobardi would have been a clear “no thanks,” although there is no shortage of rumors about a possible wait-and-see strategy while waiting for a more substantial offer.
