Jonas Vingegaard, dream Saturday in Valle d'Aosta: the Dane makes it a trio and wears pink for the first time

Jonas Vingegaard won the 14th stage of the Giro d’Italia 2026, which took the riders from Aosta to the village of Pila, belonging to the municipality of Gressan. The Dane of Team Visma-Lease a Bike came alone at the uphill finish of a stage, which was 133 kilometers long and decidedly challenging, thus seizing his third stage win and, more importantly, wearing the first career pink jersey.
Vingegaard, who had also won on the Blockhaus summit and Corno alle Scale, was 49″ ahead of Austrian Felix Gall (Decathlon CMA CGM Team) and 58″ ahead of Jai Hindley (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe). Two Italians were also in the Top 5, both at 1’03″: Vingegaard’s domestique Davide Piganzoli finished in fourth place, while Hindley’s teammate Giulio Pellizzari finished in fifth. Further back was Afonso Eulalio, 15th at 2’49”: the Bahrain Victorious rider thus loses the symbol of the lead, dropping to second.
The general classification thus sees Vingegaard ahead of everyone and Eulalio second at 2’26”. Gall moves up to third place with a delay of 2’50”, while Pelizzari jumps three places from ninth to sixth, with a total delay of 4’22”. Also entering the Top 10 is Piganzoli, who, thanks to a good performance in today’s stage, is now tenth at 6’13” from the pink jersey.
After today’s efforts, the riders are expected to have a completely flat 15th stage on Sunday: the start is scheduled in Voghera while the finish will be in Milan (so many times the site of the final catwalk, which instead this year, as in the previous four editions, is scheduled in Rome). No Gpm is expected in the 157-kilometer route, for a likely sprint finish.
