Alex De Minaur tries not to think about Jannik Sinner

Alex De Minaur after his positive debut at Roland Garros (victory in three quick sets against Britain’s Samuel) is back to talk about Jannik Sinner, world number one and big favorite in the Paris tournament. The South Tyrolean champion is like a nightmare for the Australian, who has lost 13 out of 13 matches against him, winning just two sets in total.
“My only goal is to focus on myself, there is no point in worrying about what he does,” De Minaur said. “Honestly I had a bit of an up and down year, I just came out of a crisis period where I didn’t feel I was playing my best tennis. In Hamburg I found my way again, I regained my confidence, and I want to do well here.”
“In my opinion Jannik is in an exceptional moment of form, and the more matches he wins, the more likely he is to lose some, because at the end of the day he is still a human being! The level at which he is playing is obviously higher than anyone else’s right now. For me, it’s about staying focused and focusing on what’s in front of me, which is the opponents in the next rounds, it promises to be some good battles.”
Rolland Garros represents a date with history for Sinner: the only Slam still missing from his trophy case. The South Tyrolean has already won two Australian Opens, a U.S. Open and Wimbledon, and a victory in Paris would allow him to complete a career Grand Slam.
