Jannik Sinner got off to a strong start in his second match at Roland Garros, managing the first set against Cerundolo (6-3 in 35 minutes) with a solid performance and always in control of the key moments. From the very first exchanges, the Azure imposes rhythm and aggressiveness on serve, effectively alternating long forehand and forward solutions.

The start is the right one: serve and volley, variations and a great intensity in response allow him to get the break immediately and direct the set. Cerundolo tries to stay hooked with some acceleration, but struggles to contain the depth and heaviness of Sinner’s shots.

In number 1 he alternates moments of continuous pressure with more managed phases, especially after the break lead. On 3-0 and 4-1, the Italian consolidates the margin with great solidity on serve, also adding bunts and descents at the net that break the Argentine’s rhythm. A few isolated errors (especially in response or advancing) do not change the overall inertia of the partial.

The heat is taking its toll and Sinner manages it with lucidity: at the changes of court he cools down, gets wet and takes supplements, always maintaining high concentration and physical efficiency. It is a management that allows him to never really wane on his hitting turns, even when the exchange gets longer. In the final, after conceding little or nothing in his own service games, Sinner effortlessly closes a first set dominated more in substance than in spectacular numbers, confirming the superiority expressed from the start.
