Ducati, Marc Marquez speaks out about his situation: "Otherwise it is better to give up"

Marc Marquez can smile: on his return to the track after stopping due to operations on his foot and shoulder, the Ducati centaur managed to close pre-qualifying at Mugello in sixth position, qualifying for Q2 in official qualifying for the MotoGp Italian Grand Prix scheduled for Saturday morning. The Spanish champion is far from his best physical condition: his radial nerve no longer hurts but he is very weak at the muscular level.
“For me the most important thing today was to try to understand how the radial nerve worked. It was very important not to feel any discomfort or numbness in my hands, fingers and elbows. At the moment it’s working well and I’m overjoyed, because that was the main goal of the surgery,” the nine-time world champion explained after practice. “Obviously, when the nerves start working normally, we’ll start working on other muscles, on the way of riding. So I have a different kind of pain, but step by step we’ll see if we can improve.”
The number 93 tried to dose his energy: “I get tired early and that’s why I was super calm today in FP1 and Practice, I only pushed one lap to try to get into Q2. Right now I don’t feel confident enough to push. And, if I have to be honest, I thought I would feel better on the bike: in the right turns and changes of direction, I lose a lot of time.”
Marquez therefore feels far from the best, at least by half a second: “At the moment I’m not ready to fight even for the top-5, I don’t have goals for the dry lap and position, I just want to improve. I don’t know what my 100 percent is but the most important osa is that mentally I am ready and I want to try to reach my top again. Because if you are not mentally ready, it is better to give up. I am ready and I will try: maybe I won’t succeed, maybe I will, we will have the answer maybe in two months, or maybe in two weeks.”
