Olimpia Milano vs Reyer Venezia, trivia and statistics on the Scudetto final

It will be Olimpia Milano and Reyer Venezia who will play each other in the Scudetto final. The Biancorossi eliminated Germani Brescia while the Laggunarians wiped away Virtus Bologna’s dreams. The final series begins Thursday, June 11, with Game 1, scheduled at the Forum in Assago.
Olimpia will play the 23rd final in its history starting Thursday, June 11. To the previous 22 (favorable balance, 12-10) must be added five playoffs played between the 1960s and 1970s against Varese in the era that preceded the institution of the playoffs: in 1962, 1966, 1971, 1972 and 1973 of which three were won and two lost. In finals contests, Olimpia is 49-48.
The first final in the playoff era dates back to the 1978/79 season when Olimpia eliminated Varese by winning the decisive game 3 on the road. However, then the final against the then very strong Virtus Bologna had no history. The first finals won was in 1982 against Pesaro with game 2 (played best of three) won at San Siro with John Gianelli’s decisive stoppage over former great Mike Sylvester.
In the 22 previous games, Olimpia had the home court advantage 11 times with seven wins and four losses. 11 times it has not had the advantage with five wins and six losses. It is currently 11-11 in Game 1. When it has played the first act at home it has won eight times and lost three. When it played it away it won three times and lost eight. When it has won Game 1 it has then clinched the series 10 times out of 11; when it has lost it, it has then overturned only twice (in 1989 against Livorno and in 1996 against Fortitudo Bologna).
