Roma Basket Club: An Italian coach is the front-runner to lead the team

The project for the new Roma Basket Club, the Rome-based basketball team backed by a group comprising Don Nelson Jr., Rimas Kaukenas, and Luka Dončić, is taking shape. Many details have yet to be revealed, but the official presentation is scheduled for June 25, when Valerio Bianchini—who was brought on board by the American and Lithuanian investors—will outline the new club’s ambitions and structure.
In the meantime, the club has already secured its spot in the upcoming Serie A season thanks to the transfer of Vanoli Cremona’s league license. Furthermore, the new Roman club will immediately have a presence in Europe’s top competitions.
Rumors continue to swirl regarding the management team. Among the most likely candidates for a key operational role is Claudio Coldebella, currently with Maccabi Tel Aviv. It is not out of the question that he may soon arrive in the capital to take on management responsibilities within the club.
The coaching situation, however, remains open. At this moment, the leading candidate to lead the team appears to be Paolo Galbiati, who successfully coached Baskonia last season and holds an advantage over the other candidates being evaluated by management.
