Davide Paglialunga, a player for Jesina, dies in a tragic accident

His name was Davide Paglialunga; he was 21 years old and had many plans ahead of him, both on and off the field. His life was tragically cut short on Sunday in a car accident on the Aspio highway in Ancona, where the car he was driving collided violently with another vehicle. Four other people were also injured in the crash.

Paglialunga was a well-known soccer player in the Marche region. Having come up through the youth systems of Ancona and Ascoli, he had made 25 appearances last season with Jesina in the Eccellenza league, a club that had confirmed just a few days ago that he would remain on the roster.

The Abruzzo-based club expressed its condolences in a statement: “It is with immense sorrow that we learn of the tragic and sudden passing of Davide Paglialunga, taken too soon from the love of his loved ones and from life by a tragic accident. This news leaves all those who had the privilege of knowing him and sharing a part of their personal and athletic journey with him feeling shocked and deeply saddened.”
