Brescia’s revolution also hinges on Jarrod Uthoff

With Germani Brescia overhauling its roster – though Amedeo Della Valle and Miro Bilan will remain – coach Matteo Cotelli is on the hunt for an athletic and mobile center capable of lightening Bilan’s workload and providing a credible option in the opponent’s paint. A solution that Brescia has never really had at its disposal in recent seasons, often having to resort to improvising with Burnell, Ndour, or Mobio depending on the situation.

To bolster the frontcourt, John Brown III has already returned. The 34-year-old American power forward is already familiar with the Biancoblù environment following his stint in 2022, when he arrived to strengthen the team late in the season ahead of the playoffs. Throughout his career, the 1992-born Florida native has been particularly valued for his defensive skills, which have allowed him to carve out a niche even at the highest European levels: between 2022 and 2024 he played for Monaco, before moving to Red Star Belgrade prior to his most recent stints in Australia and Puerto Rico. With the Belgrade Red-and-Whites, Brown made a valuable contribution in the EuroLeague Play-In race, averaging over five points and three rebounds in the Adriatic League.

To round out the frontcourt, the team is still in need of a power forward with solid shooting skills, similar to Jarrod Uthoff, a player the Lombardy-based club continues to monitor closely. The goal is to expand tactical options, increase the team’s versatility, and better distribute minutes within the rotations.

Uthoff, a 6’9” forward born in 1993 with NBA experience—where he played for the Dallas Mavericks, the Memphis Grizzlies, and the Washington Wizards—represents the prototype of the modern big man capable of scoring from all three positions and putting pressure on the opposing defense with his reading of the game. In his last season playing in Italy, he played for Trieste, contributing to the Giuliani’s playoff run that took Brescia all the way to Game 5 of the quarterfinals.
